A Phone That Beats all its competetion !!!
By Sandip
DELIVERY and PACKAGING:
Amazon stands to its image on packaging and delivery. The phone was packed in a bubble wrap and pouch(no amazon carton, but phone box was there).
IN THE PACK:
- Mi Note 3 Phone.
- Charger
- USB cum charging cable
- Few manuals (no one reads them these days)
- SIM tray opening pin
REVIEW:
After checking specifications of the phone in price range of 10K to 18K, I could not find a better option than Mi Note 3. It's hard to get the phone in flash sales in one try (Xiaomi's less stock to blame), but it is worth the effort.I was looking for a phone which becomes my daily driver and after comparisons, finalized on Note 3. For my review I did not go through stress testing apps, (high performance game testing, 3D bench marks, etc) as I do not use them daily.
PROS:
- Back is all metal. This is the first thing that you would notice when you hold the phone. Amazing feel !!!!
- Its thin. Don't expect it to be thin as expensive phones, but I can totally compare it to them.
- The screen is huge and reproduces good colors. Watching Videos is fun on a 5.5 inch screen.
- Thin bezels. Bezel is the gap between the phone side and the screen. Though is does not matter much, but thin bezels means smaller phone width, which makes it easy to hold.
- The finger print scanner is a snap. It fast and has very less lag when we unlock the phone.
- A Huge 4060mah battery is worth a mention. Gives a 1 1/2 day backup, with heavy calls, whatsapp, browsing on 3G, with some photo clicks.
- The processor is snapdragon 650. In desi terms it is very fast can take any app that you throw on it. I tested opting 20 apps, and switching between them was fast. (RAM size does matter)
- Adding a 3GB RAM to the processor, makes it unbeatable and best in its category
- The daylight camera pics are great.
- This point does not matter much, but this phone is MADE IN INDIA. :)
CONS:
- The phone heats up when used for long time ( continuous use for an hour or so). The time to heat reduces as you start up with the games. This is common these days in all the phones (Was using Nexus 5, and it also had the same problem), but Mi has done good job in keeping the heat at a level where the phone is usable. Earlier phones (Mi Redmi 1s) became hot as hell when you used it for long times.
- The night photo is not the best, and has kind of blur effect. But I don't complain as the phones in higher price band as well face the same issue. Additionally, we cannot expect the Camera performance same as that of expensive phones for this price.
- No Earphones. In India we are used to getting earphones free with the mobiles, but Note 3 does not have one. I guess they are trying to reduce cost by not including one in the box.
- MIUI (Software UI that phone comes by default) takes a lot of RAM. Though it is good in looks and usage, but has a high memory consumption. Tts better to opt for 3GB model then the 2GB one.
VERDICT:
My one line answer GO FOR IT.
No company gives you a metal body, with Huge 5.5 Full HD screen, Humongous 4050mah battery, fingerprint scanner and 3GB RAM in this price. Fares with day to day heavy use and providing a huge battery, they have tapped people who always crib the smartphone low batteries.(I was one of them :))
Better than iPhone, Android, everything.
By Madison
First off, it is the best device I've ever owned and I'm never buying anything other than Xiaomi ever again as long as the quality stays this high.
I bought this on a business trip to China, I knew about it and almost got it on eBay but it was a lot cheaper in the store, about $120.
This phone is beautiful. Its fingerprint sensor somehow adds to the beauty. The curved edged and clear display along with the sandblasted exterior make for a gorgeous device.
This phone is functional. It is fast, intuitive. I feel like the developers took everything you wished apple and Android iOS had, and they put it there. One instance, is on Apple devices you swipe up from the bottom of the screen to have a quick menu. You can turn off WiFi connection, get to the calculator, blah blah. I always wished with my iPhone 5s that if you held on the WiFi button it would take you into the settings for WiFi. Xiaomi does that! Holding on any toggle button will take you into the settings menu for that.
In addition, there is spotlight search just like Apple. If you swipe up from the bottom of the screen you get the same search options as you do on the iPhone. I have had 3 iPhones and 1 galaxy phone, and I miss NOTHING.
The display is true to life colors. It has less glare but is still glossy and the best one in its flagship class.
The only con is that it did not have Google play store on it. Check with this seller, they may have it on there. But when I bought it in the xiaomi store it only had the mi appstore on it, where I was able to download a few apps and follow along with a YouTube video to get Google play working great, and all the apps run as they should.
The fingerprint is pretty great. Placed on the back of the phone, by the time you pull it out of your pocket, it's unlocked. I especially love it because with the iPhone you had to wake the screen and then place your finger on the home button at the bottom. So many times this would make me loose my grip since I'm only holding the bottom bit of the phone and then boom my $500 device gets dropped.... Again. With the redmi, simply placing your finger on the sensor wakes the screen and unlocks the phone, you don't even need to press a button. Now I'll be honest. It isn't 100%. I get my finger read about 90% of the time, but at this price point I couldn't care less.
The phone has some really cool features. In the security app you can lock apps, so if I wanted I could make snapchat require my fingerprint to open the app. There are hidden albums, and the folders hold unlimited apps.
One of the best in my opinion-- it's basically a computer. I plugged a micro USB flash drive into my redmi and I was able to move files, work on a word document, make and delete folders. I have never even seen that on Apple.
The battery life is to DIE for. 4,100 mAph has never run out on me even with a full day of use. I used to have to keep chargers everywhere for my galaxy and iPhones. One in the car, my bag, an extra battery, sevral around the house. Nope. I keep one charger in my bedroom and that is all I need.
Any new phone takes some getting used to. I keep finding new things I love all the time and I've had this since the launch in February 2016. Do yourself a favor, pop over to Ebay and buy 1-2 tempered glass screen covers and a nice case. The glass costs me 0.99 with free shipping and the cases are 0.99-$6. Buy them at the same time as the phone, if not before. They will save you. I drop this poor redmi all the time and 3 screen protectors have shattered, leaving the actual screen unharmed.
I can't wait to see what xiaomi comes out with next, the next time I need a new phone it's going to be from them.

The configuration of this phone is very high. And it is very fast. If in case you could not connect to the AT&T network, you need to create a new APN for the SIM card. So it could connect successfully.
this is by far the best budget phone on the market
By Amazon Customer
In my opinion, this is by far the best budget phone on the market. If you are looking for a very inexpensive but useful phone, I HIGHLY recommend this for you.
Other than that its a really good phone, I'm really happy with the phone
By Amazon Customer
Beware of the sim card size
This phone only takes small SIM cards, not big ones. AND PLEASE DO NOT CUT YOUR SIM CARD TO MAKE IT FIT. Also you may think that there are no replacement batteries, however if you search it up on google, there are some websites that sell replacement batteries. Other than that its a really good phone, I'm really happy with the phone. :)
